LVFD has begun fundraising for a new equipment purchase. We are in the early stages of fundraising for new rescue tools, better known as "Jaws of Life". Without hydraulic rescue tools on our trucks, we must rely entirely on mutual aid from neighbouring departments. In the event of a vehicle accident in our district, time is of the utmost importance. Please support your local fire department in accquiring the tools required to keep you safe.

LVFD Fire Fighters attended the training session with the Mobile Burn Trailer in Bridgetown. With limited spaces available only nine members were able to attend, but these members will bring back some of the most current techniques and training to share with all the members at future training nights. The Nova Scotia Firefighters School did a tremendous job in providing state-of-the-art training for dealing with below-grade fires, hydraulic ventilation, direct and indirect attacks, and fire roll-overs. Stay tuned for pictures of the training night.

LVFD Fundraiser

We are currently raising money to purchase a set of vehicle extraction tools, better known as "Jaws of Life". With increasing traffic on our roads and highways, the requirement for these life-saving tools is becoming more and more evident. Last winter, one particular snow storm required the Fire Departments that we rely on for Mutual Aid for vehicle extrication to be called out to accidents in their own district. Without tools of our own we would have had no abilty to execute a vehicle extraction if we were called to a car accident in our own district.
Please support for your Volunteer Fire Department. Help us reach our goal and better equip ourselves to help our community.

Fire Safety Tip

With unusually warm temperatures and little rain, conditions in our District have reached an extremely dagerous level. Department of Natural Resources is saying the levels of dryness and forest fire risk at at levels not usually seen until Mid-August. Please be EXTREMELY cautious if you are having any type of open fire, ensure the coals are completely extinguished with water or sand when you are done. Make sure you have the necessary tools and water required to control the fire and extinguish it if necessary. Most importantly, NEVER leave a fire unattended, even for a moment.
